Date: January 17, 2012 // Time: 10:00AM MST KORN ANNOUNCE SECOND LEG OF "PATH OF TOTALITY" TOUR RETURN TO THE ROAD FOR SECOND LEG OF "PATH OF TOTALITY" TOURKILL THE NOISE TO SUPPORT SEVERAL DATESFRONTMAN JONATHAN DAVIS TO DEBUT HIS J DEVIL DJ SET(New York, NY): Fresh off the hugely successful first leg of dates in support of their recently released album The Path of Totality, Korn are returning to the road for the second leg of The Path of Totality Tour. The new batch of dates kick off on February 23 in Detroit, running through the Midwest before heading back West and wrapping up on March 4 in San Francisco. Kill the Noise will provide support on certain dates, while Korn's own Jonathan Davis will also debut his brand new DJ set as his J Devil alter ego. Special pre-sale tickets and VIP packages will be available starting Wednesday, January 18 at 3 PM local time at www.korn.com. Tickets for most shows go on sale to the general public this weekend. The Path of Totality is another experimental chapter in Korn's rich canon and history. The album found the band shifting gears, taking a bit of a creative left turn (something they've been known to do throughout the course of their two decade career) and exploring thrilling new territory with some of the hottest emerging producers and talent in the burgeoning electronic scene. The album debuted Top 10 on the Billboard charts and was met with universal critical applause, thanks to the band' s ability to remain fresh and relevant while collaborating with electronic producers Skrillex, 12th Planet, Kill the Noise, Excision, Flinch, Noisia, Datsik, Downlink, Feed Me and more. Date: December 09, 2011 // Time: 2:40PM MST DYING FETUS ENTER STUDIO - BEGIN WORK ON NEW ALBUM John Gallagher, guitarist and vocalist of DYING FETUS, has announced that the group has entered the studio to record their new full length album. The band will once again be working with longtime producer Steve Wright (Slipknot, Misery Index) at Wrightway Studios in Baltimore, MD. Set to be released in mid 2012 through Relapse Records, the album will feature nine tracks and is a "return to roots" with production focused slightly more on slam than in the band's last few works. Thematically, the album is set to be a good old-fashioned piece of social and political commentary in the style of DYING FETUS as we have come to know. An official release date and album title will be announced shortly. "The last album had some groove in it," stated John, "but [it] was basically a lot of tech; this one is a return to form of older DYING FETUS albums, so to speak- more modern production though, of course." Date: November 04, 2011 // Time: 02:00PM MST Dave Brockie AKA Oderus Urungus Comments on Passing of GWAR Guitarist Cory Smoot AKA Flattus Maximus and the Status of GWAR After a restless night spent hurtling through the desolate Canadian wilderness, I crawled from my bunk on the tour bus to face reality, grudgingly aware that the the dark dream that gripped us would not fade with the day. We have lost a brother, a husband, a son, and one of the most talented musicians that ever slung an ax. Cory Smoot, longtime lead guitar player for the band GWAR, has passed at the age of 34. As the singer of GWAR and one of his best friends, I feel it is my duty to try and answer some of the questions that surround his tragic and untimely death. I know the sense of loss and pain is far greater in scope than in the insulated environment of a band on tour, and I will do my best to provide what clarity and comfort I can. The most glaring question is how? And unfortunately that is the hardest question to answer. The truth will not be known until the medical officials have finished their work. All I can do is relate what we saw with our own eyes. The last time I saw Cory was after our show in Minneapolis on Weds. night. It was a great show at First Avenue in Minneapolis, one of our favorite places to play. Cory was happy. He was excited about the band and especially the new studio he was building in the Slave Pit back in Richmond. He was deeply in love with his wife, Jamie, and was busily planning their family and future in the beautiful home they had. As usual, after some autographs and banter, I was probably the first person in their bunk as we got ready for a big drive into Canada, and Cory and the rest of the guys were not far behind. As I fell into the slumber that only playing GWAR shows can induce, everything seemed right in the world. |
